  • Husbands and their Antics

My husband loves to play World of Warcraft, also known as WOW. According to urbandictionary.com, WOW can be defined as "a good fun alternative to life." The sample sentence reads, "Sex, career, friends, money and power. All of these things are just distractions trying to pull you away from World of Warcraft."

While my husband has yet to relenquish all sex, his career, money, and whatever power he has acquired; he has managed to restructure his life in such a way that WOW will probably be mentioned in his will.

He plays WOW for a few minutes before going to work. He checks in on his lunch break if he gets the chance. He logs in a half hour between work and dinner. And then he fills whatever time he has between "Kim time" (usually dinner and a movie) and "bed time" (sometimes 3am) with his other great love, World of Warcraft.

Now I can't complain too much.... how many women can say their husbands slay dragons and cast spells in their spare time? *Silence.* Let me rephrase that; how many women can say their husbands... Nevermind, I'm going to skip that route.

The point is, I can't complain. After all, World of Warcraft is more productive, interactive and interesting than plopping down in front of the TV all night. And being the social game that it is, he gets to spend virtual time with his buddies. WOW can also be a great stress reliever - after a few hours picking flowers or casting spells, healing other warriors or flying over new lands - my husband is happy and carefree. It allows me to blog and do whatever I choose for a few hours each night.  There are many other benefits as well.  For example, "You can play WOW if you want" works much better than "I have a headache."

If I were to complain, which I have in the past, my husband's answer would undoubtedly be, "You married a gamer." *sigh* This is where I usually reply, "It's a good thing I love you, Eric."

Yes, it could be worse... He could be addicted to Xanga!

My husband is also a WOW addict. I guess I don't really mind it that much. It just bugs me when I say that dinner will be ready in five minutes and he's still playing ten minutes later! Does your husband talk to the people he plays with? Mine does, so it's kind of weird to hear unfamiliar voices coming out of the office when he's playing. Anyway...I'm glad I'm not alone :) And you're right, it does give me time to do whatever I want while he is playing.

    Take care :)

    WOW.

Anyways, I'm sure you already know this but Eric is also invited to my party. He's just not my Facebook friend.

Yep, I too married a WoW player. I play with him sometimes, but I think it is a better alternative to other things that are out there.
