So, I'm sure most everyone has heard that slogan by the Obamites. "Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor." I personally find it disgusting, and wouldn't vote for anyone who would use such a phrase.
Aside from that, how was Jesus a community organizer?
Jesus is Lord and Savior, the Son of God who came to take the wrath of God upon Himself to propitiate for the sins of all mankind that we might be saved and that Almighty God the Father would be glorified. How does that equal to organizing a community?

Since the guy who said that is jewish, I'll be waiting for him to call on the jewish community to apologize for the crucifiction. I mean, if that's what Jesus was, and he's so in favor of community organizing, it's kinda wrong for the man to be executed for performing such a noble service, right?
Kinda like people claiming that only part of His teaching that matters is Love one another. As if people get executed for saying that. Watch out, Barney. You're next.
Desperate Dems (Notice his hair standing on end too)
This is the video from my videolog-feel free to use it.
My guess is Jesus would know this answer also:
When does a baby get
So did anyone running for office actually use the phrase?
@megank1991@xanga - To be honest, I don't know. But, I have heard the phrase, and heard it repeated by different people. As to the actual people who said it, I don't know who all has. It wouldn't surprise me if several of them are from the northern (read corrupt) part of my state.
@Tom - Rep. Steve Cohen, D-TN, is the one who made that statement.
I really don't have a problem with the statement.
Jesus was a "community organiser" in the sense that He didn't have a paid govt position. So I would say that "technically" they are correct.
Now, what the Obama campaign is trying to do with that statement is liken Obama to Jesus (ridiculous). What they are literally saying is true/accurate, but what they are trying to imply is simply stupid and tacky.
@no_more_grace@xanga - There are quite a few who mockingly refer to Obama as Messiah because they believe that he thinks he is the Messiah, so I guess it is fitting.
But, I don't have a paid government position either, and I'm not a community organizer. What outside of not working for the government makes one a community organizer regarding this quote?
@yankeejwb@xanga - I do wonder though, as Jim pointed out that the person who made the original statement is from Tennessee, a very red state, if that guy will ever be reelected after that statement.
@ProvokingThought@xanga - Love the videos. Thanks for the links. Did Obama really stutter that much on the subject or is it repeated? I watched it but don't remember. I like McCain's answer though "At the moment of conception." It's amazing what an intro to Biology, a short read through the Bible, or a little common sense makes abundantly clear.
@Tom - I wasn't meaning that it was simply b/c He didn't work for the govt, but look at what He did (ie, read the Gospels) and you'll see that He definitely "organised a community."
I think that you see the phrase "community organiser" as somehow beneath Jesus, while I don't. I also believe that He's God, Lord, Saviour, my best friend, my brother, etc....BUT, also calling Him a "community organiser," is not, IMHO, a negative thing.
Hear ye, hear ye. To say that Jesus was merely a community organizer is the most heinous, slanderous insult a person could give.
