i get a lot of my inspiration to write from God first, then from the people around me.
i had a brief chat with someone the other day and came across this:
"i'm okay with not having Christian friends." (the person who said this is a Christian.)
is it okay for Christians to not have fellowship with other Christians? and if so, who is to help keep them biblically accountable if none of his/her friends are believers? (and let's not get into the whole "atheists have morals" thing here. we know atheists have morals too, but i'm speaking strictly about biblical accountability.)

bad company corrupts period i say... i mean... it's different for accountability because Jesus did have His 12...
at the same time though... i think a mark of a mature Christian is someone you can go eat buffalo wings with, shoot pool, play darts, sit at a table and have fun with and not worry about whether he/she can exegete the Hebrew and play Bible jeopardy like some sunday school freak... i'm beginning to more and more find that i can be the sunday school jerk... less of that please for myself...
the like Jesus I am, I think the better I will be... which means hanging out with people is likely what Jesus would do... just not indulge in what people do... He ate, he drank, and he went to parties...
but He did have his 12 as well... balance...
I think that it is important for us to have Christian friends. I know myself, I behave differently around my non-Christian friends than I do around my Christian friends. However, I do think it's good to have non-Christian friends too. Like leadworshipper said, it's really about balance.
Can Christians grow to maturity without the church? The church is not necessary for salvation. The church does not save you, in and of itself. If Christians are to grow, and experience the power of God in their lives they need to experience the community relationship of believers found in God’s church. “you too are being built together” The way to experience the power of God is to get deeply involved in the church. The believer, who is surrounded by those who are also saved by Grace, can experience the power of God, as the individual relates to the individuals within the group at large. It is within the community of church a believer can experience Faith, Hope, and Love, and the kind of faith hope and love that only believers can share, through the Holy Spirit. Christian relationships are a nessisary part of experiencing God.
