  • Hamas Leader's Son Becomes a Christian

What happens when you take the son of an influential Hamas leader and introduce him to Christ? Here is what happens.

The story itself is rather touching and I actually stopped when I read this statement:

"I'm not afraid of them, especially as I know that I'm doing the right thing, and I don't see them as my enemies," he said. "I do think about this a lot. But what are they going to do? Are they going to kill me?

"If they want to kill me, let them do it. I'm not going to stop anyone. It's going to be my freedom. My soul's going to be free of my body, not flesh any more."

How many of us living in our comfortable and liberal countries can really say this and mean it?

Also, I found this statment interesting:

"Palestinians look really ugly in front of everybody in the world and they are very, very good people ... they are misled, and their picture is very dark because of this leadership. They need some help, they need people to stop lying to them, and lying to the world."

I like this statement because it reminds me that it is not the people that one should dislike but the sin that one should dislike and the only way to battle that is through prayer. We need to begin on our knees.

You can also read an earlier interview here.

Any case, what are your thoughts?

you guys are a little slow on the uptake. This story circulated Xanga more than a month ago when first reported by WorldNetDaily and Haartz in Israel.

well either way... slow or not... God should be thanked and worshipped for it...

indeed... Praise God... He is so good... looks like Jesus will in some form or fashion be infiltrating the Hamas slowly and calling each leader out from darkness into His Marvelous light to live by the power of grace and hope in life eternal

This is a beautiful story. I will cherish this.
It put a smile on my face and for that, I thank you.

@roamingchile@xanga - Haha, this may be so, but it does not make the message less important. Things get better over time, like a nice wine or old cheese.

Very cool.  It is so good to hear a story about someone in his positions coming to Christ.

I've known and been God's for over a quarter century.  At first all I could see was the beauty of His creation.  But in all that time I've come to see the ugliness that the enemy has made of it, how the hearts of men have been beaten, torn and bruised and blamed on He Who alone is Good.

I've seen how man alone can do nothing but make things worse and worse beyond most's ability to comprehend.  IOW I hate what this world has become and is becoming the more it neglects and is pulled away form the only One who can lead us into true peace and joy.

Plus, all my closest friends, including my best friend for life, have been taken far from me.  So what is there in this life that I have that compares to the one to come?  Only unabashed service to my Mentor and the Lover of My Soul.  If I die in obedience to Him, so much the better.  Death no longer holds any threat over me.  Instead it offers me freedom from this world of pain and misery.

If you want to threaten my life, have at it!  You'll just be getting me off work early!

    Undiluted bravery.

It's really quite inspiring how God shines through everything and in all situations.

    Thanks for posting this!

    Something sweet.

"My soul's going to be free of my body, not flesh any more."

isn't this what Plato used to say? that the soul is imprisoned inside the body?

but since aristotle later learned, body and soul are both present in a person.

    anyway...

    Welcome Mr. Yousef!

Ironically, he'll probably make less of a difference now that he's converted.  If he had stayed a Muslim, he would have been able to reach out to his own people better.  Now, there's a good chance he won't be listened to at all.

It almost sounds like he was ashamed of being Muslim, and not because it's an inherently evil religion, but because people believe it is.
