Does Jesus Really Understand How I Feel?
"Jesus wept." -John 11:35
According to Merriam-Webster:
weep (verb)
1: to express deep sorrow for usually by shedding tearsJohn 11 tells us about the death of Mary and Martha's brother Lazarus. Jesus waited knowing that Lazarus would pass away so that others would suffer and know Him more. when Jesus came to the place where Lazarus was buried, He saw the grief in the people who mourned Lazarus' death and Jesus was so overcome that He wept. Jesus didn't just shed a few tears, He literally wept and cried out of "deep sorrow."
Sometimes I feel as though I am separate from Jesus, like God and Christ are far from me. In my most selfish moments, I am very distant from God and I don't see that God is longing for my heart and soul to come back to Him. I lose track of the fact that I am in Christ and He weeps when we fall astray. God sees our struggles and knows where our hearts are, the trouble that weighs our lives down, He weeps for us because He knows our hurts and sees us fall. Too often I tend to push God away because I assume that God doesn't know how I feel or that God is allowing me to go through struggles because I deserve it or I'm not worthy enough of His full love.
However, all these thoughts of doubt are lack of faith and satan's lies. I strongly feel that satan tells us these lies to make it seem like God and Christ are unattainable (by unattainable, I mean our relationship with God cannot be personal). In our weakest moments, satan whispers in our ears that God leaves us and lets us struggle on our own. In John 11, Jesus shows us the complete opposite. He longs so much for our hearts and wants us to put our complete faith and trust in Him. It's not a question of whether or not He is capable of healing us and loving us; it's whether or not we accept His offer because Jesus is fully capable and He weeps for us when we hurt.
I'm not exactly sure what I'm trying to get at here, but to let you know that even though you're struggling and it seems like you can't see where God is leading you or you don't even think God is walking with you, know that He is still there and wants you to know that there is hope beyond the moment that you are at right now.
Do you ever feel like God doesn't understand how you feel or hurt?

Actually He understands better than I do how I feel.
I am happy to report that I feel God knows me and loves me every second of the day...He carries and I trust Him to...if I'm in trouble, I just figure I missed it somewhere...but He always shows me what to do....
I feel like that quite often, but after the emotional-ness goes away, I realize that He cares about me and understands what I am going through. Those feelings are always temporary.
No, I used to feel that way but now I dont always understand why I feel the way I do or in the moment; dont clearly understand His intentions. That is where blind faith must come in and I am old enough in Him to even relinquish my ways and surrender to His.
Of course! The thing I have to remind myself is that my feelings are just that. They don't necessarily have any basis in fact (well, usually don't actually!), and this is so true when I am feeling distant from God! I can be honest with Him and tell Him when I feel like He isn't there or He doesn't care or understand, and when I am He shows me just how wrong I am!
No i have been in church all my life since birth and i know God knows too well how i feel but dont worry i know people who fel that way P.S. just in case u didn't know the Father(God),The Son (Jesus Christ),and the Holy-Ghost are all one they are not different and if u need explaining send me a messege on my Xanga and i will explain
@bLueAnGeL55@xanga - I'm with you. Feelings are not good to follow in any relationship we want to sustain.
Ms Magnolia, I like this post because you are open and genuine about not being done opening this complex gift of relationship with God. I am also glad that you can show that once we sincerely decide to love God and live for Christ, that it isn't always going to be a smooth ride.
I also like that you remind us that God has emotions! He sees things that are good (Creation when it was newborn), things that are not good (Adam without Eve), he finds joy when we surrender to his eternal plan, and he agonized the loss of an only son who was a delight to him.
In regard to my feelings, mostly, I remind myself that we are fallen people with stony hearts and rough edges. God's got a lot of work to do in refining the gold he put in us to gleam. It's not so bad, once we see that the times we feel most distant, God may be most busy working on some of those rough edges ;).
We all feel that way from time to time so hang in there.
So many times, yes. I know He understands, but knowing and knowing are different, and sometimes my heart feels so alone in my struggles and pain.
I just have to remind myself of what I know in my head, and that is that Jesus DOES understand.
I think He definitely knows how we feel.
i forget a lot that God knows how i feel. Hopefully i'll forget less now =]
it's hard at times to believe that such a big God empathizes with our pain and hurts..... as tiny and infinitesmal we are...
I receieve this message.
At times, when going through transitions, and shifts through my life, i feel abandoned, but after coming to senses I know God will never leave me, he loves me more than that, and I am nothing without him, either ;)
i really don't think it's possible for God to empathize. but i also really don't think it's relevant.
good entry. when you coming home again?
Yes, God knows.. he understands... he's right there with you.
I can forget at times that I'm all alone in the journey that is life... but God reminds me that he's with me through interactions with other people...through situations that come my way... It's like he keeps on trying to get my attention all the time. And because I pity myself, or beat myself up for mistakes, I forget about God. I don't remember that he's there. He loves me, and that he cares deeply.
I hope that God will speak to you all to show you how much he empathizes and knows what you're going through.
