Not as much as I should but more than I use to, if prayer is just thought and sometimes tears, I pray much but that is all I can ever give, me and gratitude and questions to Him....
maybe a couple of hours? and i prefer to see it as meditation with God... prayer insinuates communication.
I go to Mass once a day, plus a definite 15-30 minutes of prayer right before bed. Throughout the day it depends on what time I have. Oftentimes I will pray a rosary for someone, but always I am talking with Christ in my mind, thanking him for that beautiful sight or that lovely song, asking Him what I should do about this or that. Really I try to pray all day, and when I have the opportunity and time I do it formally. But during this time of studies we scholastics don't have as much time for prayer and devotions as we did in novitiate, so we learn to make our studies our prayer which, because Christ has missioned us to it, is just as pleasing to Him as any devotion, because it is a sign of our devotion to our mission, which is devotion to Him. Hope that makes sense!
That is difficult for me to say. When I think of someone who needs prayer, I will just say a little prayer right then and there. This goes on all day long. When I see something on the news, I will pray right then. When I read my subs on Xanga, and someone is hurting, I pray right then for them. My main time for praying is when I am in bed and ready to go to sleep.
I pray the Liturgy of the Hours (the prayer of the Church since ancient times) at 4am, 6:30am and at 4pm. It consists of Psalms, Old and New Testament readings, ancient readings from the early saints and martyrs and intercessory prayers. Each sit down is only about 10 minutes.
I also say the Rosary after the 4am readings. I wake up in the middle of the night almost every night. At that time the prayers take on a desperate nature.
I teach at a ghetto school. So as I walk from my car to the classroom I pray for success and survival in battle and for the troubled young ones who have been taken by the Evil One.
My prayer life is almost non-existent now.
Not something anyone else needs to know or worry about except the One I'm praying to, in my opinion
As a family we've established regular prayer times. We pray together as a family before breakfast. Then before my hubby leaves for work, we pray together for each other's specific needs that day. We also pray together as a family at dinner time, and again with the kids before they go to bed. When my hubby and I go to bed together we pray then as well. I'm like many others that throughout the day I'll pray when there is a need and when I'm thankful and when I'm "praising" Him. Prayer should be a continual thing for God's people. It IS our way of communicating with Him and He asks us to pray to Him, and then listen.
unfortunately, not enough. It's easy for me to pray for others, and I do so often, but when it comes to praying for myself, I fall short, big time. I need to try harder...
@Pickwick12@xanga - why do you even have to reply to the post if you're gonna have an attitude like that
@Edizzy@xanga - The tone wasn't meant in a mean way, just my opinion. I'm one of the regular revelife writers (miss poppy), and I didn't mean to offend the revelife crew or anyone else. I meant exactly what I said, not with a negative or rude tone. I'm not looking down on anyone else, just stating my opinion. Thanks for your feedback.
I pray in the morning, when I go to bed, and at different times throughout the day. They aren't necessarily long prayers, but I'm always talking to God.
I have to say...not as much as I know I should! I know that's an evasive answer....but I can't say for sure
@musterion99@xanga - Why do I not pray much? I used to include short prayers when I read the Bible every morning. When I got out of the habit of Bible reading, I also stopped the sitting down, making a list, kind of prayer. I just talk to the Lord during the day as activities come my way. I pray like on the run or just when something comes to mind. I praise Him as His favor comes my way as God is very generous with provision, and taking care of problems. I just thank Him. I sort of gave up asking God for things as a general rule, but just keeping an eye out on His favor and goodness to me. When serious looking things come my way, I pray about that on the run.
My sit down a pray time is just not there any more, as well as reading the Bible through in a year since 1965. I wanted something fresh that way. Funny though, I have attended a church for 13 years, but in the last year, the asked me to preach 5 times. They like it because I have all the verses memorized or generalized in my memory bank, so when i preach, I don't need notes or read out of the Bible.
I have become lazy. I nee to get back to the way it used to be.
Thanks for asking.
Blessings
Frank
I could not say really- I'm always talking to Him. There are two times that I have a dedicated time to pray- I have a 45-60 min. drive to and from work so I do a lot of praying then- sometimes for the other driver's bad habits- sometimes for mine LOL!
The Lord is the 1st person on my mind when I wake up and the last one on my mind when I fall asleep.
Praying is the easy part- its listening that I have trouble sometimes with! :)
@NVRSAD_DAY@xanga - I just talk to the Lord during the day as activities come my way.
So you do still pray. That's still considered prayer but I understand the distinction you are making. I'm glad to hear that you're at least still talking to God throughout the day.
on average, I don't pray at all.
Like others have said, I really just toss prayers through the day, as I feel the need. Sometimes it's a petition "help that family with the trashy yard, and may they be blessed", and sometimes it's Thanksgiving "bless that family with the clean yard"or I'll pray for drivers on the road, for those who made my food before during and after I eat it -depending and whatever comes to mind.
I will have two deliberate times of prayer, too: at devotions time when I read Father's Book, and when I go to bed, to set the tone.
Lately Ive been trying to be more genuine in prayer and grasp that God and I are supposed to have a conversation. Not just me asking for things. So although we should pray without ceasing, I've decided to just try and be in constant communion with my Father.
