What do you think this scripture means?
The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. [KJV]

He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,

It means my concept of God is not nearly as awesome as He actually is!
I feel convicted (in a wonderful way) for my tendency to expect God to be mean to me or angry at me. That last part is particularly powerful for me. It reminds me that God actually delights in me. Why? Because He made me, and I am His child. Sometimes I think these ideas would be easier to grasp if I was a parent and understood more about parental love, but these verses are a warm, tender, exciting reminder of God's love for me. I continue to pray and learn about it and to ask God to reveal it to me.

@Pickwick12@xanga - I know what you mean, it's very hard to grasp the concept of God delighting over us in this way. It's a concept I'm asking Him to reveal to me ...
He loves me. He rejoices in me. His love calms and comforts me. He enjoys my presence. He sings joyful songs for me. He rescues me from the darkness.
I am so undeserving, yet so grateful...
Whenever that song "Mighty to Save" comes on the radio I tear up. It means he can conquer anything I might run into. I'm also comforted by the fact that he delights in me and rejoices over me - wow - what did I ever do to deserve that? Nothing, and that is why it's so awesome.
